Learn more about the Labrador Retriever.
Maggie is sweet and beautiful. Photos don't do justice to her gorgeous deep chocolate color. Maggie would like to be an indoor dog. She loves attention, likes other dogs, gets along with cats, and prefers not to be alone.
She will need a home with a good chainlink fence. She is able to climb board and panel fences and escape.
Maggie is about two years old. She is spayed and housebroken.
Maggie is a very good girl, she is house broken and gets along with other animals just fine. She likes to be praised and loved on a lot. She gets along well with older children. I don’t know about toddlers or infants as I have only seen her with children that are 9 and 10 years of age. I suspect she would be fine around younger children as long as she was supervised till she got used to the rules around them.
Maggie is crate trained, but the crate is rarely used. If she is to be left for long periods she is put into the crate as she does show signs of separation anxiety. This also is something that in time can go away once she realizes you will return for her. She likes to go for walks and car rides, she is curious about her surroundings and very alert to them. Maggie will need to go to a home where she will not be left for long period’s everyday as this upsets her, at least not in the beginning of her transition. As she settles in she should do fine being left for a few hours a day. Maggie is fostered in a home where there are other dogs, cats and children around. Maggie will need a secure fence as she likes to do her necessary job and then come back in the house. If she is left out she will climb over the fence if possible. Her foster mom has told us she gets out but comes to the front door now to get in the house however, at first she would take herself for a walk alone. We're not sure what she would do if left out when her foster family was gone and no one to let her in, so she is left in the house and/or crated when left for long periods. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and they will be answered to the best of our knowledge.
Maggie is recovering from a minor illness. She'll be available following treatment.
